Eating Disorders and College

Maintaining balanced eating habits has become more complicated for college students over the last few years. With world events and diet culture contributing, eating disorder diagnoses have been increasing.

Eating disorders are serious and are experience by many, including college students. Eating disorders are not just about food and they are not a choice. There are many factors that contribute to the development of an eating disorder and they do not discriminate by age, ethnicity, or gender.

There are a number of eating disorders including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), and other specified feeding or eating disorder (OSFED). These diagnoses can have complex impacts on the lives of those struggling with them, but they ARE treatable. Through professional treatment, those dealing with eating disorders can move on to a healthy minded life.
