Mood & Anxiety Treatment

Most of us are aware of depression and anxiety disorders, but there are several diagnoses within the category of mood and anxiety disorders that are no less serious. Issues like trauma and school refusal, as well as diagnoses including bipolar disorder and self-harm can also become a roadblock for teens in their daily lives.

Every teen struggling with a mood and anxiety disorder deserves support and the treatment they need. Mood and anxiety disorders include a range of mental health diagnoses including anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, and others. With each diagnosis and client, there can be a different set of symptoms and co-occurring issues. At Moriah, we treat each client holistically. For some clients, addressing co-occurring substance use is an important component of our treatment program.

To learn more about the different types of mood and anxiety diagnoses we treat, please see below.

At Moriah, we understand the complex nature of mood and anxiety disorders and the struggle they can be for teens and adolescents. Our goal for each teen in our programs is for them to gain the skills and knowledge they need to leave stronger, happier, and healthier. We help struggling teens develop the strength to effect change in their lives.

We provide more than just treatment. While the clinical needs of each client drive treatment, we support the person as a whole. We understand that teens struggling with these diagnoses also are dealing with a combination of co-occurring issues.

Our programs are fully supported, safe environments where teens can be free to reflect on and work through their issues.

We support teens during the treatment process and beyond. Treatment at Moriah helps teens move forward on their path to a healthier life and we provide resources beyond treatment to keep that momentum.

When your teen has issues going to school or staying in school, there can be a number of reasons. School refusal is the result of overwhelming emotions that your teen may be experiencing.

Anxiety

Anxiety disorder symptoms can come on suddenly, are often repeated, and can interfere with your teen’s daily life. They often include fears about school, family, health or social relationships.

Co-Occurring Substance Use

It is known that individuals with a mental health diagnosis have an increased likelihood of developing a substance use disorder over time as they look for a way to cope with their symptoms.

Self-Harm

Self-harming, also called self-injury, include any type of behavior where a teen intentionally harms themself. This behavior is an unhealthy way of attempting to cope with feelings.
